
1. Spinning Top
Also known as: Lattu (in
Hindi).
How it works: You wrap a
string around the top and pull it quickly to make it spin on its pointed tip.
2. Pachisi (or Chaupar)
Note: This is an ancient
board game that looks very similar to modern-day Ludo.
How it works: It is played
on a cross-shaped board using cowrie shells (shown in the image) instead of
dice to determine how many spaces to move.
3. Snakes and Ladders
Origin: This game
originated in ancient India as Moksha Patam.
How it works: You roll
dice to move forward; ladders help you skip ahead, while snakes force you to go
back down.
4. Carrom
How it works: A tabletop
game where you use your fingers to flick a heavy "striker" disc to
knock lighter discs (carrom men) into the four corner pockets.
