KNOWLEDGE (10 MARKS)
Q1. How many minutes are there in 1 hour?
Answer: 60 minutes
1 hour = 60 minutes.
We remember: 1 hr = 60 min.
Q2. How many hours are there in 1 day?
Answer: 24 hours
1 full day has 24 hours.
Day and night together = 24 hours.
UNDERSTANDING (10 MARKS)
Q3. What time is it when the minute hand is at 12 and the hour hand is at 5?
Answer: 5 o’clock
When minute hand is at 12, it means exact hour.
Hour hand at 5 means time is 5:00.
Q4. School starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM. How many hours does school run?
Answer: 6 hours
From 8 AM to 2 PM:
8 to 9 = 1 hour
9 to 10 = 1 hour
10 to 11 = 1 hour
11 to 12 = 1 hour
12 to 1 = 1 hour
1 to 2 = 1 hour
Total = 6 hours.
ABILITY TO COMPUTE (10 MARKS)
Q5. Add the time: 2 hours + 3 hours
Answer: 5 hours
2 hours + 3 hours = 5 hours.
Q6. A movie starts at 4:00 PM and ends at 6:00 PM. How long is the movie?
Answer: 2 hours
From 4 PM to 6 PM:
4 to 5 = 1 hour
5 to 6 = 1 hour
Total = 2 hours.
PROBLEM SOLVING (10 MARKS)
Q7. Reena wakes up at 6:00 AM. She gets ready in 1 hour. What time is she ready?
Answer: 7:00 AM
She wakes up at 6:00 AM.
Add 1 hour.
6 + 1 = 7
So she is ready at 7:00 AM.
Q8. A train journey takes 5 hours. If it starts at 9:00 AM, at what time will it reach?
Answer: 2:00 PM
Start time = 9:00 AM
Add 5 hours:
9 to 10 = 1
10 to 11 = 2
11 to 12 = 3
12 to 1 = 4
1 to 2 = 5
Arrival time = 2:00 PM.
