KNOWLEDGE (10 MARKS)
Q1. One ticket for a ride costs ₹25. What is the cost of 2 tickets?
Answer: ₹50
Cost of 1 ticket = ₹25
For 2 tickets: 25 + 25 = 50
So total cost = ₹50.
Q2. A child buys a toy for ₹75 and a balloon for ₹15. How much money is spent?
Answer: ₹90
Add 75 + 15
5 + 5 = 10 (write 0 carry 1)
7 + 1 + 1 = 9
Total = ₹90.
UNDERSTANDING (10 MARKS)
Q3. There are 6 stalls. Each stall has 8 chairs. How many chairs are there in all?
Answer: 48 chairs
Each stall has 8 chairs.
There are 6 stalls.
So 6 × 8 = 48 chairs.
Q4. Ritu had ₹100. She spent ₹65 at the fair. How much money is left?
Answer: ₹35
Money Ritu had = ₹100
Money spent = ₹65
100 − 65 = 35
So ₹35 is left.
ABILITY TO COMPUTE (10 MARKS)
Q5. Add: 368 + 245
Answer: 613
Add ones: 8 + 5 = 13 (write 3 carry 1)
Add tens: 6 + 4 + 1 = 11 (write 1 carry 1)
Add hundreds: 3 + 2 + 1 = 6
Answer = 613.
Q6. Subtract: 750 − 325
Answer: 425
Borrow from hundreds.
10 − 5 = 5
14 − 2 = 2
6 − 3 = 4
Answer = 425.
PROBLEM SOLVING (10 MARKS)
Q7. A sweet shop sold 235 laddoos in the morning and 165 laddoos in the evening. How many laddoos were sold in total?
Answer: 400 laddoos
Add 235 + 165
5 + 5 = 10 (write 0 carry 1)
3 + 6 + 1 = 10 (write 0 carry 1)
2 + 1 + 1 = 4
Total = 400 laddoos.
Q8. There were 900 visitors at the fair. 475 visitors left early. How many visitors stayed?
Answer: 425 visitors
900 − 475
Borrow from hundreds.
10 − 5 = 5
14 − 7 = 7 (but we borrowed correctly gives 2 actually let's solve properly)
Correct method:
900 − 475 = 425
So 425 visitors stayed.
